In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
“And say unto them: Act! Allah will behold your actions, and so will His messenger and the believers.”

Based on the above quote from the At-Tawba Holy Koran and the guidance of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz, who is the guardian of the religion, the nation and its citizens, the Saad Al_Sanea Centre for Communication Disorders (SSCCD) was established as a philanthropic project. This is consistent with great deed of the founder of the kingdom, King Abdul Aziz who unified the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

SSCD was founded as a humanitarian and philanthropic institution. Construction began in early 1992 on an area of 20,000 square meters in Al-Khobar, in the eastern province. It is a voluntary project that provides free services for children with special educational needs.

Through a combination of medical, training, instructional, and counseling services provided for handicapped children and for their parents, the centre is able to provide advanced social, health and scientific services.

The centre continuously develops and enhances its services in all issues related to special education and special needs. Its popularity is reflected by the number of special education children who apply to join the centre every ear in order to benefit from its programs and services.

SCCD provides its services through several sections. Development in the centre aims to satisfy two basic needs:

  1. Establishing new sections to meet the requirements of handicapped children and their parents. This situation requires continuous monitoring in order to be aware of scientific developments in special education. (This effort is carried out in cooperation with other centers, universities, and other research institutions).

  2. Raising the numbers of children in different sections which necessitates an increase in the number of specialists and staff who provide services. These service provides are given the opportunity to upgrade skills and develop professionally through in-service training programs in specialized courses. Such courses are often related to the state of the art equipment and facilities available at the centre and ensure the services provided are of a high standard.

  3. Parents are asked to bring all relevant medical reports about their child.

  4. Assessment results are studied and a decision will be taken regarding admission or refusal.

Whenever a child is admitted, a study will be conducted on the social and economic status of the family.

The centre chooses and implements of specific rehabilitation program for each child after conducting psychological tests on his/her cognitive, linguistic, kina esthetic, and social abilities. This allows the centre to place children in a section that is appropriate for their needs.
